Lara Kohn Thompson is a licensed massage therapist (LMT), Certified Manual Lymph Drainage therapist (CMLDT) certified Yoga teacher and trainer (ERYT- 500/ PRYT), educator, and mentor.

Her offerings include bodywork and movement therapies, Integrated pelvic health, weekly Yoga classes and retreats, as well as Yoga teacher training and continuing education workshops for movement and health professionals.

Born in India, raised in France and currently living in Brooklyn, Lara spent her “first life” as a professional dancer with both national and independant dance companies in France.
Traveling, performing, and experiencing how the body moves and feels when integrated as well as when injured, helped form the foundation of her knowledge as a deeply intuitive teacher and bodyworker. Since early 2000 she has formally studied and become licensed to offer healing in a variety of modalities including Massage therapy, Craniosacral Therapy, Manual Lymph Drainage, and Yoga.

Bringing a French expertise to both perinatal care and Integrated pelvic health, Lara is an A.P.O.R ® practitioner (Approche Posturo Respiratoire) and is certified in A.P.M ® (Anatomie pour le Mouvement) and Germain's pelvic floor and movement series.
Lara has also trained in the US with Tami Kent and is certified in Holistic Pelvic Care ™, as well as in perinatal massage (Mamassage®).

Along with her dance education, the backbone of Lara's dance career was her 15 years of Pilates study and mentorship with senior Pilates instructor Solange Mignoton in Paris, whose work is woven deep into Lara's present work.

As both a teacher and mentor, Lara co-created the perinatal program at Brooklyn Flow (aka Bend and Bloom Yoga) and is on the faculty of the Integral Yoga Institute Prenatal Yoga Teacher Training Program as well as Kula Yoga Project and Brooklyn Flow’s 200-hour certification program. She is a scholar and contributor for the Wanderlust teacher training program and a guest teacher for Yoga teacher training programs in the US and France.

You can find her online with Brooklyn Flow, Kula Yoga Project, the Commune Empower Birth series, as well as on Yoga International.

In her teaching as with her integrative bodywork, Lara uses breath-centered practices and precise alignment. Her lifelong experience of movement practices, as well as her extensive education, have taught her to see the subtle movement patterns and ways bodies have of moving and breathing and the effects these patterns have on a person’s well-being. Her practice is supported by intelligence, humor, and an intuition that enables her students to open to their own healing, gain confidence, and build an awareness of their body’s unique strengths.  She delights in connecting with them and nourishing the transformation of their bodies into a place of greater ease, freedom, and joy.
