Led by Beth Donnelly and Lara Kohn Thompson

Personal Care, Adjustments, and practice. Emphasis is often placed on the process of labor and delivery, while little attention is given to the early postpartum period—a crucial and powerful time for a person’s recovery, well-being, and vitality.

In this training, we will address aspects of the physical and emotional recovery and recuperation from pregnancy, labor and birth. Learn tools you can use with people in the early weeks and months postpartum to support their healing and prevent injury. You will learn to guide your students through a gentle and safe asana practice, as well as tap into the power of deep relaxation, pranayama, and meditation.

We will gather tools from Therapeutic Yoga and include practical exercises and age-old techniques to assist the postpartum person in recovering their core strength and rehabilitating and re-inhabiting areas most directly affected by pregnancy and childbirth.

Learn ways to help people transition smoothly from their prenatal practice into the postpartum phase, and discuss ways to integrate those methods into a person’s daily life and practice with a young child (or children).
